Connect to your Mac over SSH
Find your hostname and port, connect from Terminal, and save a shortcut.
Every Mac has its own hostname and SSH port for the whole lease. Both are on your Mac’s page in My Macs, with the exact command ready to copy. It looks like this:
ssh -p 2201 dev@k7p2x9.runmac.dev
dev is your macOS user (an administrator). Logins use the SSH key you gave us at checkout; passwords are switched off on the internet-facing port.
The first connection
SSH asks you to confirm the Mac’s fingerprint the first time. Type yes. Your key is installed within 5 minutes of the Mac becoming ready, so if you connect straight after paying and get Permission denied, wait a minute and try again.
Save a shortcut
Add this to ~/.ssh/config on your computer, then connect with just ssh runmac:
Host runmac
HostName k7p2x9.runmac.dev
Port 2201
User dev
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_ed25519
The same Host runmac works in VS Code Remote-SSH, JetBrains Gateway, scp and rsync.
