Automate Safari for web testing

Turn on Safari’s WebDriver and run Selenium tests against real Safari.

Safari’s WebDriver is built into macOS at /usr/bin/safaridriver and is off by default. Turn it on once:

safaridriver --enable

Then point Selenium (or another WebDriver client) at Safari; most client libraries start safaridriver for you. For example, in Python, webdriver.Safari().

Safari is a desktop app, so run tests while dev is logged in to the desktop: log in once with Screen Sharing, or turn on automatic login in System Settings → Users & Groups.
