Edit code on your Mac with VS Code

Use VS Code’s Remote-SSH extension to work on the Mac from your own computer.

VS Code supports macOS as a Remote-SSH host, so you can edit files and use the terminal on your RunMac from your own computer.

  1. Set up the SSH shortcut and check ssh runmac works in a terminal.
  2. In VS Code, install the Remote - SSH extension (ms-vscode-remote.remote-ssh).
  3. Open the Command Palette and run Remote-SSH: Connect to Host…, then pick runmac. If asked for the platform, choose macOS.
  4. Use File → Open… to open a folder on the Mac.

Builds and terminals in that window run on the Mac. Running the iOS simulator still needs Screen Sharing to see it.
